In the supermarket they found the corpse of an employee who disappeared 10 years ago

In January, workers cleaning shelves and air conditioners from the former No Frills supermarket in Council Bluffs, Iowa, found the body behind one of the air conditioners.

The remains have recently been identified. They belonged to Larry Elie Murillo-Moncada, a former employee who went missing on November 28 of the year 2009.

With the help of parents' DNA, investigators confirmed his identity. The clothes on the remains corresponded to the description of the one in which he was missing, according to the captain of the Council of Bluffs Todd Wedma.

Murillo-Moncada's parents reported that their son went missing after he was upset and ran out of the house. At that time, they told the police that he was acting inefficiently, possibly because of the drugs he was taking, said Veddum.

The officers then contacted family members, other law enforcement agencies, nearby detention centers, and even the US immigration and customs agency (he was deported to Honduras before he returned to the United States), but received no information about his possible whereabouts.

Investigators suggest that Murillo-Moncada went to the supermarket and climbed on the air conditioner. According to Veddum, goods were stored in that place, and employees sometimes hid there when they wanted to arrange an unofficial break for themselves.

It is believed that he fell into the 18-inch (45 cm) gap between the back of the air conditioner and the wall and was trapped. According to Veddum, the noise from air conditioner compressors could dampen any attempts to seek help.

An autopsy revealed no signs of injury, and the case was recognized unfortunate.
