66 wildfires blaze in the US: thousands of people evacuated due to unprecedented activity of the elements
Authorities in southwest Washington issued an evacuation order for thousands of homes as wildfires quickly spread across the region due to strong winds on October 16, reports Axios. This is the 66th wildfire raging in the US at the moment.
An unusually large number of forest fires spread across Pacific Northwest, Intermountain West and Canada, as many areas of the western United States face "above-normal temperatures and minimum relative humidity," according to the National Interagency Fire Center.

“Record high temperatures, dry weather, wildfire fears and air quality concerns continue in the Pacific Northwest,” the National Weather Service said in a forecast update on October 17 morning.
The Clark Emergency Services Agency expanded evacuation zones in response to the Oct. 16 fire, and they now affect 35 to 000 homes.
