Workers in the theater, film and television industries in the United States founded a movement to protect women from sexual harassment and discrimination. He writes about it Air force.

Initiative called Time's up (“Time's Up”) was supported by more than 300 people, including actresses Natalie Portman, Reese Witherspoon, Ashley Judd, Eva Longoria, Kerry Washington and others.

To support the victims of harassment, a special fund has been created, donations to which are collected on the platform GoFundMe.

In less than two weeks of the project’s existence, its creators managed to build 13 million dollars from planned 15.

The money collected will be primarily used to pay legal aid to both women and men who are victims of sexual harassment in the workplace.

It is planned to help primarily those who are unable to pay for legal services on their own - as a rule, these are workers in the service sector, as well as those employed in agriculture and manufacturing.

The creators of the project are also calling for an end to the problems of gender inequality and power imbalance, so that more women take influential positions and have equal pay for men.

As stated on the project's website, "It's time to put an end to the fact that women have to fight to be included [in an exclusive circle], to fight for professional growth and to be heard."

“The time for this impenetrable monopoly is up,” the appeal says.

Participants Time's up also expressed their intention to seek stricter legislation in the field of protection against harassment and discrimination. In particular, they propose to introduce fines for companies where there have been cases of harassment.

In order to draw public attention to the problem, the movement asks women from the film industry to wear black clothes to present awards. Golden Globe 7 in January.

In recent months, many sexual harassment scandals have broken out in the United States. The first in harassment and rape was blamed famous Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein.
