In the US, punish electors who did not vote for Clinton

In Washington, four electors who refused to vote for former US presidential candidate Hillary Clinton were fined $ 1000, writes Forbes.

As David Ammons, a representative of the State Secretary of State Kim Wyman, specified, these electors must pay the amount within two months, otherwise the agency will go to court. He called such electors "unscrupulous."

The agency explains that the electors sign a pledge that they will vote for the candidate nominated by the party for presidency and vice-presidency.

However, on election day, an electoral college of 12 electors from Clinton was supported by eight people. In total, according to the voting results from 538, seven electors voted not for the winner in their state, but for another candidate. This was a record since 1836. Then the 23 member of the college changed their mind.

Thus, only four "unscrupulous" electors represented the state of Washington, where Clinton won. Three of them voted for former Secretary of State Colin Powell, the fourth for an Indian elder named African Eagle of Faith. In the state of Hawaii, an elector voted for Bernie Sanders instead of Clinton.

According to the presidential election in all 50 states and in Washington, DC, Hillary Clinton typed A total of 65,844,610 votes - 48,2% - compared to 62,979,636 votes for Trump - 46,1%. Other candidates received 7,804,213 votes, which is 5,7% of the votes of all voters.

The difference that Clinton received in the popular vote was the largest in the entire election period when candidates lost to the electoral college.

At the same time, Trump became the third worst of the winning presidential candidates, starting with 1824 year (when the popular vote was first officially registered).
