The average bribe amount has increased in Russia

The average size of a bribe received by officials in Russia has doubled compared to 2014 for the year.

If a year ago the average size of a bribe and commercial bribery was 109 thousand rubles (about two thousand dollars), now it is already 208 thousand rubles (3700 dollars). Such data provided by the police.

Experts are confident that the average increase in bribes in Russia has grown due to the strong appreciation of currency and inflation. The police admit that their calculations are very approximate. They are based on the number of initiated criminal cases under the “Bribe” clause.

It turns out that corrupt officials prefer to take a bribe in dollars and euros.

Law enforcement agencies themselves do not hide the fact that bribery has taken the scale of a national disaster in Russia. According to experts, the annual damage to the Russian economy from bribes amounts to hundreds of millions of dollars.

It is interesting to note that more than half of Russians agreed that almost every person will take bribes if they are given them. With the statement that almost no one will refuse if a bribe is offered, 51% of the population of Russia agreed. The majority of respondents (72%) stated that they never gave a bribe, the remaining 23% confirmed that they had such cases.
