In Russia, by mistake, destroyed half a ton of sports nutrition
Russian customs in the Krasnodar Territory mistakenly destroyed 407 kilograms of sports nutrition, which arrived from Turkey to the address of one of the commercial organizations, considering the production of sanctions.
As the TASS was informed by the press service of the Southern Customs Directorate, as early as June 2015, the customs officers detained a sports nutrition batch. The total weight of the cargo destroyed in September was 532 kg.
“During the documentary control, the information was confirmed that the country of origin of the goods is the United States,” the customs department noted.
Experts conducted an examination and found that “some of the goods – mixtures of vitamins and minerals, as well as sugar syrup – are ready-made products for nutrition of athletes and are included in the list of agricultural products, raw materials and food prohibited for import into the Russian Federation,” customs officials emphasized. Therefore, a significant part of the product, 407 kg, was destroyed by burning, the Southern Customs Department reported.
However, sports nutrition is not included in the list of sanctions products banned from being imported into Russia since August 2014. In the Krasnodar customs of TASS reported that the destroyed products refers to the codes of TN VED 2106909200 and 2106909809. However, the list of prohibited for importation of products of these HS codes is not.
From the very beginning of 7 August 2014, nutrition for athletes was included in the list of food embargoes, since it intersected with another type of banned product - milk. The fact is that sports protein blends contain protein supplements made from milk protein and milk powder. However, in the same month, August 20, the government removed it from the list along with a number of other products: concentrates of vegetable and animal proteins, lactose-free milk, etc. These principles have been preserved in the prodamabrgo list after it has been renewed for a year from August 7 on 2015.
However, at the customs they are sure they are right, the agency said. An administrative violation case was initiated against the recipient of goods in accordance with part 1 of the article 16.3 CAO, which provides for an administrative fine of up to 300 thousand rubles. An investigation is underway, the customs administration said.
Since August, 2015 in the Russian Federation began to destroy illegally imported sanctions products. Some citizens of Russia strongly opposed such a decision. A petition against the destruction of food on the Internet gained more than 400 thousands of signatures.
Previously reportedthat Russia in August 2014 of the year restricted the import of foodstuffs from countries that have imposed sanctions on it, including from the EU. The ban included meat, sausages, fish, vegetables, fruits, dairy products.
