Yevgeny Prigozhin's plane crashed in Russia: it may have been shot down by air defense

A plane crashed in the Tver region, possibly carrying the head of the Wagner PMC, Yevgeny Prigozhin. According to Rosaviation, he was on the list of passengers, reports “Radio Liberty”.

According to a number of telegram channels, Dmitry Utkin (call sign “Wagner”), one of the commanders of the PMC, was also on board.

The moment of the fall was captured on video published by the Baza and Mash telegram channels. One of the videos shows an explosion in the air.

The plane crashed in a populated area.

A tail number similar to RA-02795 is visible at the crash site. This is the number of a business jet that belonged to the head of the Wagner PMC, Yevgeny Prigozhin.

The Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation reported that 10 people died in the crash of a private plane, three of them were crew members. The crashed business jet was on its way from Moscow to St. Petersburg.

There are no comments from Prigozhin’s structures yet. The Gray Zone channel, associated with the Wagner PMC, writes that the plane was allegedly “shot down by air defense systems.”

Media sources write that Prigozhin's entourage cannot contact him. There is currently no confirmation that he was on board.

“Before the plane crashed, locals heard two explosions of characteristic air defenses, and this is confirmed by contrails in the sky in one of the videos, as well as the words of direct eyewitnesses,” writes Gray Zone.
