The trial of Nadezhda Savchenko began in Russia
In Donetsk (Rostov region), the hearing of the case of Ukrainian citizen Nadezhda Savchenko, accused of involvement in the death of Russian journalists in the Donbas, began.
Journalists were not allowed into the courtroom for the first meeting - they were escorted to a nearby audience and organized a video broadcast.
Nadezhda Savchenko is accused of the fact that 17 of June 2014 of the year carried out an adjustment of the shelling in the Luhansk region as part of the Aidar battalion. As a result of the attacks, journalists Igor Kornelyuk and Anton Voloshin died.
Savchenko claims that she was kidnapped and taken to the territory of Russia. The Russian authorities believe that she independently crossed the Russian border, after which she was detained.
