The mother of four children never told what happened to their father, who went missing in 1961, the police said.
Human bones, found in the basement of a house in New York, have been identified as the bones of a person who has been missing for over sixty years. His death is now being investigated as a murder.
Police report that George Carroll’s son and his two grandsons found his remains on October 30 during a basement excavation at a house in Lake Grove, New York.
The autopsy results, published this week, confirmed that the remains belonged to George Carroll, and found that his skull was broken due to a blunt-force injury, authorities said.
Carroll's son, 57-year-old Michael is the current owner of a property that once belonged to his father and mother, Dorothy Carroll, who died in the year 1998. The family has long been rumored that the remains of George Carroll may be in the basement, police said, citing family members.
According to the authorities, Carroll, a Korean War veteran, went missing in 1961 year. Police said that Dorothy Carroll never told her four children about what happened to their father.
