An armored truck scattered money on a highway in New Jersey, which resulted in two accidents when drivers tried to collect money scattered across several lanes.

Videos posted on social networks show that the Brinks truck parked on the side of the East Rutherford, and the driver of the armored truck was desperate to collect money on the road. Police reported that one of the doors of the truck could not function properly around 8: 30.

"The driver seemed to be laughing and crying at the same time and he was running around asking people to stop," said Betsy Richards, who witnessed the collection.

It is not known how much money was lost, but Richards said that a lot.

“I saw $100 bills and 5s, 10s and 50s, so there were at least 10 on the highway,” Richards said.

According to police, drivers who abandoned their cars to raise money on the road caused two accidents. In one video, you can see a person trying to collect a part of the currency from the roadway.

According to NBC, during the incident on the road about 293 thousand dollars were missing, now law enforcement officers are trying to find them. East Rutherford police said that on the roadway fell two plastic bags containing a total amount of 510 000 dollars.

The drivers and the staff of the Brinks armored car were able to collect about 205 000 dollars on the spot. Later, five people who witnessed the accident, contacted the police and made a little more than 11 000 dollars. The remaining 293 535 dollars are still looking for law enforcement.

While witnesses were delighted to watch drivers try to collect cash - like a game of Frogger between moving traffic - police remind them that this is theft. Anyone who collected is urged to call the East Rutherford Police Department at 2-1438-0165 to “arrange for their return without charges.”

The police reported on Thursday afternoon that several people had contacted the department in an attempt to recover the money they had found on the highway.

Brinks "provides security services in the U.S. and globally, including secure logistics, cash management, payment and retail solutions," according to its website.
