In Moscow, the action #FreeSavchenko ended with detentions

Police in Moscow began to detain participants in the rally in support of People's Deputy of Ukraine Nadezhda Savchenko, who is in Russian custody.

In Moscow, at the #FreeSavchenko rally, near the Matrosskaya Tishina pre-trial detention center, the police detained Anastasia Ringis, a journalist for the Ukrayinska Pravda publication.

The journalist reported this by phone from a paddy wagon, where the police placed her and five other protesters.

“I didn’t shout any slogans, I didn’t hold any placards. They detained me just like that,” the journalist noted. She was also not told the reasons for her detention.

On Channel 5, Savchenko’s lawyer, Mark Feygin, said that Anastasia Ringis could have been detained by the police “as a random witness to the action.”
“She interviewed me, could find out about this action and get to know its participants. Therefore, most likely, she could have been detained as a random witness,” Feigin noted.

According to OVD-Info, participants of the action - Vera Lavreshina, Vladimir Ionov, Alena Koroleva, Anastasia Melnikova and others - were also detained at the pre-trial detention center.

Thus, at present, 8 people have been detained on actions in honor of Nadezhda Sachenko’s birthday.

Moscow police has not yet commented on the situation.
