In Michigan, parents kept five of their children in a 'dungeon' without food or toilet

In Lansing, Michigan, parents bullied their children by locking their five children in a “dungeon” without food, toilet, and light for at least six years, police said.

32-year-old Jenier Conde and 28-year-old Sarah Conde often locked up their children in the bedroom, which the policeman called "dungeon", without the possibility of getting out.

Children aged 6 to 11 years, who were locked in a room without food and the ability to go to the toilet, told the Child Protection Service that they were often beaten and threatened with weapons.

It is assumed that the abuse began in the 2011 year and continued until the 2017 year, when they were identified. At the hearing, Detective Pete Skachch described in detail the physical and verbal insults of the couple against children. He also added that the couple refused to seek medical help for children when it was necessary. One of the children was not even allowed to continue to visit his oncologist.

In one case, after the children filled the bath at home, Sarah Conge lined them up and pointed a loaded pistol at them, said the eldest son.

“She almost shot us, she made us stand tall, she laughed and held a gun. She was going to shoot us,” the boy told investigators.

The son reportedly said that Sarah Conde had aimed the gun at the face of the younger child and pulled the trigger, but the gun did not fire. The mother told the children that they were lucky and ordered them to go upstairs, one of the children said.

The child protection service, according to the report, came with a call to the family at least 12 times since April 2009, before taking the children under her care.

Since then, children are in foster care.

On Friday, the Conde spouses were charged with 10 counts, including ill-treatment of children of the first and second degree and illegal detainment against their will.

A hearing is scheduled for August 3.

Recall that six months earlier the California police задержала a married couple accused of holding their children in captivity. In a house in Perrys, California, police found 13 children. The youngest child is 2 of the year. The eldest is already 29. Some of them were chained to the beds.
