Lithuania plans to produce smart shoes

Ishuu Technologies from Vilnius collects money through the crowdfunding platform Indiegogo to produce smart shoes, the surface of which is made using electronic ink technology (e-ink). According to the company page on Indiegogo, shoes will cost from 150 to 500 dollars.

The surface of electronic ink allows the owner to match any black and white pattern on the surface of the shoe. To connect to the smartphone shoes use Bluetooth radio, the corresponding electronic filling is built into the sole.

Ishuu is going to sell Volvorii Timeless women's shoes at a price of 500 dollars per pair, but through Indiegogo you can pre-order at a price of 150 dollars per pair. According to the site Indiegogo, the Lithuanian company is going to attract thousands of dollars for 25 days 50, so far only 770 dollars have been raised.

According to the information on the site, the Lithuanian company expects to win the Louis Vuitton Prize competition for young designers of fashionable clothes and accessories with the main prize 300 thousand euros. To win this competition, the Lithuanian company released a prototype, and now with the help of Indiegogo it is going to start production and sales of smart shoes - according to the project page on the crowdfunding platform, the first shipments are scheduled for December 2015.

Electronic ink technology developed for electronic books, but it is also used in watches and smartphones. The main feature of black and white screens on e-ink is low power consumption: electricity is needed only when the image on the screen changes. The e-ink technology also works in Phosphor Watches and in the Russian smartphone Yota Phone - an electronic screen has a second screen on the back of the device.
