California to mark Holodomor Victims Day

The California Assembly (USA) adopted a resolution that set 25 on November 2017 as the Day of Remembrance for the Victims of the Holodomor in Ukraine on 1932-1933.
“On August 31, 2017, the Assembly of California (USA) adopted a resolution on holding on November 25, 2017 the Day of Remembrance of the Victims of the Holodomor in Ukraine of 1932-1933. The corresponding decision was made unanimously,” the Consulate General of Ukraine in San Francisco said in a Facebook post.
The author of the resolution is Kevin Kylee, a member of the California Assembly. During a speech at the parliamentary hearing, Kylie informed Assembly members about the tragic consequences of the repressive policies of the Stalin regime for millions of Ukrainians and stressed that the Holodomor in Ukraine was an act of genocide against the Ukrainian people.
Recall 7 December 2016, the Verkhovna Rada adopted an appeal to democratic states to recognize the Holodomor 1932-1933 in Ukraine the crime of the genocide of the Ukrainian people.
In the twentieth century, Ukrainians experienced three famines: 1921-1923, 1932-1933, and famine 1946-1947. The 1932-1933 Holodomor was the most ambitious. In the peak months of the Holodomor, 24 people died every minute in Ukraine. Total killed about 4,5 million Ukrainians.
