Recognized smuggling of explosives in Israel
Record cargo smuggled explosives intercepted at the seaport of Ashdod, Israel. In the container, where the lanterns were supposed to be on the consignment notes, there were 27 tons of firecrackers, fireworks and other self-igniting materials.
The cargo, as customs officers found out, arrived about a month ago from China. The vessel that delivered the container was unloaded and the cargo was placed in temporary storage. Since the recipient of the “parcel” did not appear in a timely manner, the customs officers decided to inspect the goods without waiting for the official “customs clearance”.
In this regard, customs officials reminded that the import of such goods requires special permits, as it represents a threat to the safety of citizens.
The consignee has not yet been established. Further investigation will take the police.
