In Belarus, Shrovetide burned the flag of Russia
The celebration of Maslenitsa in the Belarusian agricultural town of the Brest region was not without an entertaining curiosity. Judging by the photo report published by the local publication “Nash Krai”, during the festivities, the flag of the Russian Federation was burned along with the traditional effigy of winter.
For now, however, it is unclear whether this was a planned protest against Russian military aggression in Ukraine, or whether the Russian flag ended up on fire by chance. As the organizers of the festival stated, nothing like this was even planned, and the Russian tricolor “was purely by chance created from elements of the stuffed animal’s “clothing.”
Nevertheless, the fire turned out to be spectacular, and the residents gathered around greeted it with joyful shouts. “The holiday ended with a bonfire on which a scarecrow burned, and with it the chilly days and everything bad,” the Nash Krai publication describes the event, without specifying, however, whether by “everything bad” it means the national flag of the country. aggressor.
