In Armenia, the rally was fiercely dispersed, but the organizers urge to meet again
In Armenia, the organizers of the protest action against the increase in electricity tariffs, dispersed by police on Tuesday at dawn, on their Facebook page urge citizens to meet again this evening at Freedom Square for a regular rally.
According to the report, the organizers are calling to initiate a campaign to consolidate all forces demanding the release of detained activists of the campaign, to reduce electricity tariffs, to reform the energy sector, to call for responsibility for the situation.
The protest rally started on Friday at Freedom Square in Yerevan and on Monday evening turned into a march to the presidential residence.
Early Tuesday morning, police broke up the demonstrators, who blocked the central avenue of Marshal Baghramian. Almost 240 people were taken to police stations, there are victims on both sides.
The participants of the protest action demanded that the decision of the Commission on the Regulation of Public Services of 17 of June to increase the electricity tariff, according to which from August 1 the tariff will increase by 6,93 drams per kWh (approximately 16,7%), was demanded.
