USCIS has updated the rules for the presence of foreign students in the US
The US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has updated the rules by which the days of illegal stay in the country of foreign students who are in the US on F, J, and M visas will be considered, the agency’s press release said.

Thus, persons who are in the country under F, J and M status and have lost this status before 9 August 2018 will accumulate the time of illegal stay in the United States, starting from this date. The time of illegal stay in the country will be considered:
- The day after the end of the term of study or authorized activities in the United States.
- The day after I-94 expires.
- The day after the migration judge announced the deportation decision (regardless of whether a court decision was appealed or not).
Persons who have collected 180 days of illegal status for one stay in the country, but left the territory of the United States, will not be able to apply for visas and visit the United States for 3-10 years.
Persons who have obtained a total of more than one year of illegal stay in the country, and who are repeatedly trying to enter the country, receive a lifetime ban on visiting the United States.
Persons who have received a 3-year-old or 10-year-long ban on visiting the United States may, upon expiration, enter the country, but are not eligible to apply for a permanent residence permit.
USCIS has put new rules for public comment and is ready to receive innovation proposals for 30 days before 11 June.
