Hurricane Florence is not one: 5 storms and cyclones formed around the US
Hurricane Florence is far from the only storm threatening America; several other storms have formed in the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans.
In the Atlantic at the moment there are tropical storms Helen, Isaac and subtropical storm Joyce, and the tropical cyclone Olivia and Super Typhoon Mangut formed in the Pacific Ocean, writes USA Today.
Atlantic Ocean
Joyce is far away in the ocean and does not pose an immediate threat to land.
However, Helen will make an exit in the Azores this weekend, having a wind speed of 70 miles (113 km) per hour.
The tropical storm Isaac, which passed between Dominica and Martinique 12-13 in September, is now heading west along the eastern coast of the Caribbean. The storm has a wind speed of 45 miles (72 km) per hour and is not expected to gain strength, but it will retain its power in the next few days. It is expected that the storm will dissipate in the first half of next week.
Meteorologists are also monitoring another cyclone in the western Gulf of Mexico. The hurricane center predicts this storm has a 10 percent chance of becoming a storm within the next five days. But regardless of the development of events, this formation will bring bad weather - heavy rain and gusty winds - to Mexico, Texas and Louisiana on September 14-15.
Pacific Ocean
Olivia's tropical cyclone continues to move west from Hawaii. Heavy rains and winds from Olivia brought down trees and power lines, and also led to the evacuation of several houses on the island of Maui.
Meanwhile, the most dangerous storm in the world at the moment may be Super Typhoon Manghut, the wind force in which is 165 miles (266 km) per hour. According to the predicted trajectory of movement, this storm moves to the Philippines.
Already September 15 typhoon may land on the northeastern province of the Philippines Cagayan. The Philippine authorities began to evacuate thousands of people, closed schools, prepared for landslides, and brought rescuers and troops to full readiness to clear the territories and rescue the victims.
