Atlantic hurricanes will become more powerful and slower
Remember Harvey Hurricane in 2017, it almost stood over Texas, raining it for several days. The storm was moving very slowly, and a new study suggests that in the coming 80 years the hurricanes forming in the Atlantic Ocean will become more powerful and move slower, reports The Weather Channel.
The study also claims that hurricanes and storms in the future will contain more moisture, throwing it on dry land and leading to flooding.
Scientists have analyzed 22 of the last storm, making a projection for the future using weather simulations that take into account many factors.
Researchers predict that by the end of the century the weather will become hotter, the water in the ocean is warmer, and this in turn will lead to more severe hurricanes containing more moisture, and this moisture will slow down their movement.
On average, by 2100, hurricanes will be 30% more powerful, 70% slower and will contain 35% more moisture.
