Trump said he 'did not concede anything' to Putin at the summit

US President Donald Trump said that he “did not yield anything” to Russian leader Vladimir Putin during the Helsinki summit, but did not reveal any details about their closed meeting.

“I didn’t give up anything, we just talked about future benefits for both countries,” Trump tweeted. The president also criticized leading media for negative coverage of his summit with Putin, reports Voice of America.

Trump and Putin spent more than two hours talking in private, in the presence of only their translators. Trump said he discussed a number of issues with Putin, including efforts to denuclearize North Korea, the Middle East peace process, cyber attacks, Russian intervention in the 2016 elections, fighting international terrorism, Israel’s security, the need to restrain the nuclear race between Russia and the United States. annexation of the Crimea and other topics.

According to the Russian authorities, Putin has put forward a number of specific proposals regarding the conflict in Ukraine. Secretary of State Pompeo said they also discussed the Syrian crisis.

However, the leadership of American intelligence and members of Congress declare that they do not know what the leaders were talking about, and no briefing was held on this issue.

Despite harsh criticism, Trump invited Putin to come to Washington this fall to hold a second meeting.

According to Voice of America correspondent Ken Bredemayer, many in the United States are outraged that at a press conference after the summit, Trump supported Putin on the issue of Russian interference in the elections, noting that the Russian leader had "firmly and persistently" denied it. Subsequently, Trump said that he trusts the findings of American intelligence that Russia was trying to influence the outcome of the elections, but again rejected the existence of a collusion between Moscow and its campaign headquarters.

At the same time on Sunday, Trump called the story of the Russian intervention "fake", accusing his predecessor Barack Obama that he did not intervene in the situation, because he believed that Democrat Hillary Clinton would win the election.

“So President Obama knew about Russia before the election,” he tweeted. “So why didn't he do anything?” Why he did not inform our campaign headquarters? Because everything is a big fake, that's why. And he thought that the liar Hillary would win! ”

On Monday, Trump once again criticized the investigation of Special Prosecutor Muller about Russian interference, collusion with Moscow and obstruction of justice upon the dismissal of the FBI ex-director James Komi. The president called the investigation a “disgrace” for America and said it should be stopped immediately.

He also criticized the FBI because the agency received permission from the special court to intercept Carter Page, one of Trump's former advisers suspected of ties to Russia. These materials formed the basis of the investigation of Muller. Paige, who was not charged, in a CNN Sunday interview, called the suspicions of conspiring with Moscow “ridiculous” and untrue.
