“We thank Attorney General Jeff Sessions for his service and wish him success!” - Trump spoke in connection with Sessions' resignation, noting that a permanent replacement for the Attorney General will be known later.

“From the day I was honored to be sworn in as Attorney General of the United States, I have come to work every day at the Department of Justice to do my duty and serve my country. “I have done everything possible to support the fundamental legal processes that are the foundation of justice,” Sessions said in a letter released after his resignation.

The resignation of Sessions, which was one of Trump's most active supporters during the 2016 election campaign of the year, has been discussed over the past few weeks. But this step revealed new disagreements between the president and many republican legislators, who consider Sessions one of the most prominent representatives and defenders of the conservative movement in the United States.
