Tillerson harshly criticized Trump, he was not in debt

Former US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson criticized President Donald Trump, calling him an undisciplined person who “doesn’t like to read.”

Tillerson, who left the post of Secretary of State in March 2018, gave an interview to CBS TV channel, in which he spoke about his work in the presidential administration and the impressions that Trump made on him as a manager. His remarks were rather harsh and hardly liked the president.

“He is quite undisciplined, does not like to read, does not read short memos prepared for him, and does not like to go into detail on many issues. He says: “This is my opinion. Try to convince me otherwise." But in most cases this cannot be done,” Tillerson said, adding that it was quite difficult for him to work with such a person, coming to him from the oil company Exxon Mobil, where everything is “disciplined and structured.”

The former secretary of state added that Trump is not guided by an analysis of the situation, but by instincts.

“He goes with his instincts. In certain aspects it resembles impulsiveness. But he relies on instincts, not impulses,” Tillerson explained.

At the same time, he noted that he is ready to work again in the Trump administration, if the president is interested in this.

He also admitted that his relationship with Trump had deteriorated badly before his dismissal.

“Our value systems were different. Sometimes the president would say what he wanted and how, in his opinion, it could be achieved. I had to say that I understood the task, but it was impossible to achieve it in the proposed way, because it would violate the law or the agreement. It upset him,” Tillerson said.

According to him, he had to communicate with Trump very straightforwardly. According to the ex-Secretary of State, the US President could eventually get tired of him as a person who constantly told him what he could not do.

Tillerson also criticized the fact that Trump's main microblogging Twitter was his main communication tool.

“I’ll be honest with you: I’m very concerned that Americans need to know so little about issues that they are happy with 128 characters (in fact, Twitter messages were originally limited to 140 characters, and in 2017 it was increased to 280 characters),” - he said.

At the beginning of the year, immediately after Tillerson’s departure from the position of state secretary, Trump praised him for his work. However, December 7 amid the ideas expressed in the interview, the president called the ex-official “lazy and stupid.”

“Mike Pompeo (current Secretary of State) is doing a great job, I’m very proud of him. His predecessor, Rex Tillerson, lacked mental capacity. I was stupid as a cobblestone, and I couldn’t get rid of him quickly enough. He was damn lazy." wrote trump on Twitter.
