Target reduces prices for thousands of products
Retailer Target announced its intention to reduce prices for thousands of goods.
This led to a drop in the value of the company's shares by about 3%, reports CNBC.
Reduced prices will affect such product groups as cereals, paper towels, baby products, razors, towels and other goods.
Target announced this decision just a few days after Amazon began to cut prices at Whole Foods stores throughout the United States.
“We want our guests to be happy every time they shop at Target,” said the retailer's chief merchandiser Mark Tritton.
The revision will affect prices for more than two-thirds of the network's products.
Target has also invested billions of dollars in shop improvement and digital platform development. In the second quarter of 2017, Target reported that online sales of the network grew by 32%.
