The wife of the former mayor of Moscow will be engaged in real estate in New York
The wife of the former Moscow Mayor Yuri Luzhkov, Elena Baturina, launched a development business in New York, reports Interfax With reference to the press secretary of the entrepreneur Gennady Terebkova.
According to a spokeswoman for Baturina, she acquired commercial buildings near the Barclay's Center in Brooklyn. The area of buildings is 1,5 thousand square meters, investment in their purchase amounted to 10 million dollars.
It is reported that at present the buildings are being used as commercial. At the same time, the procedure for transferring the land on which they are located into a category suitable for housing construction is being worked out, after which a large-scale development project can be implemented here.
In 2015, the United States opened a representation of the Baturina structures. It will provide control over the investments already made in the country, as well as quickly manage the development project in New York.
After selling its main asset in Russia, the construction holding Inteko, in 2011, and transferring the bulk of its business operations to Europe, Baturin develops a network of four hotels in Ireland, Austria, the Czech Republic and Russia, the production and sale of renewable energy in Italy, membrane construction systems in Germany.
In the Forbes list of the richest women in Russia, Elena Baturina ranks first. In August, 2015, the state of Baturina was estimated at 1 billion dollars.
