The United States lifted sanctions from Putin’s top official: who needs it and why
The White House temporarily lifts sanctions on Dmitry Rogozin, the head of Roscosmos.
This decision was made at the request of the US space agency NASA, writes “Today".
In early October, NASA director Jim Brydenstein visited Moscow and the Baikonur cosmodrome, where he first met Rogozin and now invited him to the US to discuss many issues related to cooperation in space.
However, Rogozin in the 2014 year was on the list of Russian officials against whom the United States imposed sanctions for the annexation of Crimea. Those involved in this list are prohibited from entering the United States.
“So that Roscosmos General Director Dmitry Rogozin could visit the United States, we carried out work in a number of areas. And we got him temporarily removed from the sanctions list so that he could come here and meet with NASA representatives, as well as some of our contractors,” Bridenstine said.
In addition, the head of NASA expressed his desire for Rogozin to speak at the American Rice University.
Let us recall that earlier Rogozin called the US and EU sanctions against Russia a shot “in his own foot”, and stated that “tanks do not need visas.”
