US partially lifted the ban on the transportation of laptops on airplanes

The United States lifted the ban on carrying laptops in hand luggage on direct flights from the capital of the United Arab Emirates, Abu Dhabi, after the country's leading airline Etihad introduced more stringent security measures, reports “Voice of America«.

The ban was introduced in March due to concerns about the US authorities about the potential for terrorists to hide a bomb inside a computer. Restrictions affected direct flights from 10 airports in the Middle East.

Itself Etihad45 flying weekly between Abu Dhabi and the United States welcomed this decision.

A representative of the US Department of Homeland Security praised the actions of the airline, which introduced new procedures, the content of which was not disclosed. According to the official, it is "an example for foreign and domestic airlines seeking to introduce new measures."

The ban continues to cover direct flights to the United States from airports in Jordan, Kuwait, Egypt, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Morocco, Qatar, and Dubai.

Recall US and UK March 21 imposed a ban for transportation of electronics (with the exception of smartphones) in hand luggage on flights from a number of countries. On the introduction of new security measures, air carriers were given 96 hours.
