The American sent the police a thousand dollars for a car that hit 30 years ago
A resident of the United States sent the police to the city of South St. Paul in Minnesota an envelope with a thousand dollars and a request if possible to give them to the owner of the car he encountered more than 30 years ago.
According to Twin cities, the person did not give his name and did not indicate the recipient’s address on the envelope. Police chief Bill Messeric said he was "very surprised."
“It's not something you deal with every day. “I think the author of the letter was tormented by his conscience all these 30 years, and at some point he came to the point of correcting everything, if possible,” said Bill Messerich.
The letter said that in 1985 or 1986, the author of the letter crashed into a parked car. The sender expressed regret and asked the police to find the owner of the car. If the victim can not be found, he asked to take money for the police.
“I am very sorry that I caused any inconvenience to anyone and I ask for your forgiveness,” the anonymous letter said.
Messerich added that the police did not keep the records of 1985 and 1986, so he would transfer the money to the office. They will spend on new equipment or equipment. The head of the city, Steve Kind, said that during 35 years of work in the administration he did not encounter such situations.
