Chicago schools may not open this fall

Chicago Public Schools will not open this fall unless officials allocate funds from the education budget. This was stated by CPS Director General Forrest Kleypool.
“Chicago schools will not be open, and I suspect that will be the case for most schools in the state,” Claypool said.
Many schools will not be able to function without financial assistance.
“Even those that were able to open would probably only be able to survive for one or two months,” the CPS director said.
CPS on Wednesday evening released the following statement:
Like most school districts across the state, Chicago Public Schools will not be able to open its doors this fall without the necessary funds—which is why we remain optimistic that education funding for students across Illinois will be resolved.
