The smartest Belarusians work for the USA and the EU
Belarus encountered “brain drain” as a mass phenomenon in the mid-90s and until the end of the 2000s. Only in recent years has this phenomenon ceased to be widespread. Apparently, there is no one to “leak away” anymore.
Based on the database created by the National Science and Technology Portal of Belarus, the online publication “Tomorrow in your country” examined where there is a demand for knowledge from Belarus and in which industries Belarusians were in demand the most.
According to the estimates of researchers, thousands of Belarusian scientists and highly qualified specialists are currently working abroad around 4-5. For a country with a population of less than 9,5 million people, the figure is quite impressive.
