Private US Air Force shot and killed a commander at a base in Texas and committed suicide
At a US Air Force military base in San Antonio, Texas, a soldier shot his commander with a pistol and then committed suicide. This information to the AP on condition of anonymity was confirmed by a senior American official.
The bodies of men, whose names are not called before the notification of their families, were found in the room, which is used for various training sessions.
Major General Robert LaBrutta, who commands Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, also stressed that the incident was not an act of terrorism. The investigation is being conducted by specialists from the US Air Force investigative unit with the help of FBI employees.
In 2009, at another Texas-based Fort Hood base, located in 360 km from the base in San Antonio, as a result of shooting killed 13 people, another 31 man was injured. Former soldier Nidal Hassan, who committed the crime, was sentenced to death.
And two years ago, on the same base in Fort Hood, soldier Ivan Lopez, who had a dispute over leave, began shoot at your fellow workers and to everyone who was nearby. In eight minutes, he killed three and injured an 16 man, and then shot himself.
San Antonio-Lackland AFB is used primarily by the US Air Force for basic military training. This base united Houston's Fort Sam, as well as Randolph (Universal City) and Lackland itself (San Antonio).
