Russia will award Israelis with 16 thousand medals

The Government of the Russian Federation handed over 16 thousands of medals "70 years of Victory in the Great Patriotic War 1941 – 1945” to award war veterans living in Israel. Their presentation will begin on January 15 with a ceremony at the Russian Cultural Center in Tel Aviv.

The organizer of the event together with the RCC is the Union of World War II veterans - fighters against Nazism.
The ambassador of the Russian Federation in Israel Sergey Yakovlev will take part in the award ceremony.
As noted in the RCC, this event marks the opening of the year of the 70 anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War. The jubilee medals will be awarded to military personnel and persons liable for military service who took part in hostilities on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War, residents of besieged Leningrad and minor prisoners of concentration camps. Medals will also be awarded to home front workers who were awarded the medals “For Valiant Labor in the Great Patriotic War 1941 – 1945”, “For Labor Valor”, “For Labor Difference”, “For the Defense of Leningrad”, “For the Defense of Moscow”, “For defense of Odessa ”,“ For the defense of Sevastopol ”,“ For the defense of Stalingrad ”,“ For the defense of Kiev ”,“ For the defense of the Caucasus ”,“ For the defense of the Soviet Arctic ”.
