Robert Downey Jr. presented the prosthesis in the shape of the hand of Iron Man
Actor Robert Downey Jr. presented a prosthesis to a seven-year-old boy, Alex, who was born without a part of his right hand. The prosthesis was designed as part of the Iron Man suit.
At a meeting with Alex, Downey Jr. showed two “hands” from the suit: one for the boy and one for himself. However, it later turned out that the actor got a “hand” with a defect - the light in it was constantly extinguished.
The prosthesis for Alex was designed by Albert Manero and members of his volunteer project Limbitless Solutions. With the help of 3D printing, they create cheap dentures for children, and then freely distribute the designs of their designs.
The cost of materials that went to create a prosthesis for Alex, was 350 dollars. Limbitless Solutions participants invested their own money and did not take money from the child.
