Trump's reaction to the son's statement: admired and pleased

US President Donald Trump called his son a man of “the highest category” and admired his openness in the context of the story surrounding his contacts with Russian lawyer Natalia Veselnitskaya.
The corresponding statement read out on Tuesday at a press briefing for journalists, First Deputy Press Secretary of the White House, Sarah Sanders, reports Politico.
“My son is a man of the highest caliber, and I admire his openness,” Sanders quoted the president as saying.
She added that Trump is “disappointed” that the topic of his son’s meeting with a Russian lawyer has become an issue and a top topic in the CM; she said he would like journalists and Americans to “focus more on things like the economy and infrastructure.”
Recall 9 July it became known that in the summer of 2016, the son and son of Donald Trump, as well as the then head of his campaign headquarters met with a Russian lawyer Natalia Veselnitskaya.
According to Trump Jr., the meeting was organized by his friends; the lawyer initially promised to provide compromising on Clintonbut focused the conversation on Magnitsky’s list and the adoption program of Russian children by Americans.
Later it became known that the meeting was organized by music publisher Rob Goldstone at the request of Russian singer Emin Agalarov.
July 11 Donald Trump Jr made public the correspondence concerning this meeting. From the published correspondence it follows that Rob Goldstone told Trump Jr. about the presence of compromising documents about the connection of Hillary Clinton with Russia, and the meeting with Veselnitskaya concerned these particular data.
