Trump's son’s meeting with a Russian lawyer was organized by a pop star from Russia

The meeting between Donald Trump Jr. and Russian lawyer Natalia Veselnitskaya was organized at the request of Russian pop star Emin Agalarov.

According to music publisher Rob Goldstone, who organized the meeting, the Agalarov family is associated with the Kremlin and in the past did business with US President Donald Trump, reports The Washington Post.

Goldstone confirmed that he was the organizer of a meeting in New York between representatives of Trump's election campaign and a Russian lawyer at the request of Agalarov.

Singer Emin Agalarov is the son of Moscow construction magnate Aras Agalarov, who sponsored Trump's Miss Universe pageant in Russia in 2013.

After the contest, Agalarov signed a preliminary deal with Trump to build one of his towers in Moscow, but the deal was suspended after Trump decided to run for the US presidency.

Agalarovs are also close to Russian President Vladimir Putin. Company Aras Agalarov received several large state construction contracts, in addition, Russian President Vladimir Putin awarded the senior Agalarov prestigious "Honorary Order of the Russian Federation".

Music publisher Goldstone noted that he organized and attended a meeting of lawyer Natalia Veselnitskaya with representatives of the Trump campaign, the purpose of the meeting, he said, was to discuss the adoption of Russian children by Americans.

He also confirmed that initially Veselnitskaya promised Trump Jr. compromising the Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton, but during the meeting she limited herself to “a few general remarks” on this subject, focusing on the topic of Magnitsky's list and adoption programs.

Trump Jr. said that his father did not know about the meeting, Goldstone also noted that no action followed these negotiations.

According to Trump Jr., the meeting was organized by his friends; the lawyer initially promised to provide compromising on Clintonbut focused the conversation on Magnitsky’s list and the adoption program of Russian children by Americans.

The Kremlin said they did not know about the meeting and have no idea who Veselnitskaya was.
