US intelligence recorded the development of new missiles in the DPRK
North Korea can develop new ballistic missiles, despite the thaw in relations with the United States, the Washington Post reports, citing new US intelligence.
Judging from satellite imagery, Pyongyang presumably creates one or two intercontinental ballistic missiles at a production complex near Pyongyang.
Sources familiar with the intelligence data told the Washington Post that the production is carried out at the same plant where the missiles had been previously made for subsequent launches.
As Reuters reported, citing one of the US officials, it is not clear how far the production has gone.
In June, US President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un at a historic meeting deal on the denuclearization of the DPRK.
However, the agreement has been criticized by many experts for the lack of detailed conditions in it about when and how exactly Pyongyang intends to begin to curtail its nuclear program.
Last week, Trump said that he was very pleased with the progress made in US relations with the DPRK, and stressed that Pyongyang had not been conducting nuclear tests for nine months.
Also last week it became known that North Korea set about to the partial dismantling of the rocket test site at the base of the Sohe cosmodrome in the north-west of the country.
This was announced by the American analytical center 38 North, at the disposal of which appeared satellite photographs depicting activity at the site.
In Pyongyang, it was previously claimed that the Sohe space center is intended for launching satellites, as well as for ground tests of rocket engines.
However, in Washington they are sure that test launches of ballistic missiles were carried out from the test site.
