Several Russian state media, including TV channels Rossiya-24 and RT, published stories about how a special burger was allegedly being served in one of the New York restaurants in honor of the birthday of Russian President Vladimir Putin, writes “Currently,«.

“The tradition has been going on for three years now, because we consider Putin to be an outstanding political person,” says the restaurant’s head bartender, Daria Pauto, on camera.

Agency TASS quotes one of the restaurant's managers, Ted Bryan, who allegedly said that Putin is “the only state leader whose birthday is celebrated in the establishment by serving a special dish.”

However, as the British newspaper found out Guardian and the Russian project “Noodle Shop”, the filmed plot was completely fabricated.

• The manager of a chain of restaurants that owns a New York institution wrote in an email that a man named Ted Brian had never worked at their restaurant.
• The restaurant itself has “never in any way” celebrated Vladimir Putin’s birthday or served a “Putin Burger.”
• Daria works in a restaurant, but after the incident she was suspended from work. The establishment is now conducting an investigation and plans to attract lawyers to “get to the bottom of this mess.”
• In another letter, it says that two employees lied to the management that they were shooting a project for study.

Head of Communications Department of RT TV channel Anna Belkina replied to the newspaper Guardian, which has no reason “to doubt the authenticity of this story.” She also cited a quote from so-called manager Ted Bryan to prove the story was accurate.
