Putin has classified the data on casualties among soldiers
Russian President Vladimir Putin attributed to state secrets information about casualties among servicemen of the Ministry of Defense during special operations in peacetime. The corresponding presidential decree was published on the official portal of legal information.
By the same decree, President Putin referred to secret information about persons studied by the special services and law enforcement agencies in order to attract them to cooperate on a confidential basis through intelligence, counterintelligence, or other operational-search activities. Previously, only information about persons involved or involved in such cooperation was classified.
The amendments were made to the decree of President Boris Yeltsin number 1203 from November 30 1995 of the year "On approval of the list of information classified as state secrets." Previously, information about casualties was considered a state secret only during military operations.
