Putin spoke about the Tu-154 shot down by Ukrainians in response to a question about the MH17 crash
Russian President Vladimir Putin declined to give a direct answer and recalled "other tragic incidents connected with Ukraine," in response to a question about the Malaysian Airlines' Boeing "shot down in the Donbas, writes Medusa.
“We had other tragic incidents connected with Ukraine. They shot down a Russian plane that flew from Israel once over the Black Sea. And they did not admit their guilt. Then they nevertheless agreed, but did not pay the compensation, ”Putin said.
We are talking about an incident that occurred in 2001, when the Ukrainian air defense forces during an exercise inadvertently shot down a plane that was flying from Tel Aviv to Novosibirsk. On board the ship were 78 people, they all died. Ukraine did not immediately recognize its responsibility for the crash and did not immediately pay compensation, but in 2003, it signed relevant agreements with Russia and Israel, and then transferred the money.
Putin also accused Ukraine of not closing the airspace over the Donbas during the fighting in 2014, and also announced the existence of several versions of the Boeing crash near Donetsk.
"There are several versions, including the version and the missiles of the Ukrainian army, and the aircraft, and so on," he said.
To the direct question: “Are you saying that it was not a Russian rocket?”, Putin replied: “No, of course. Of course not".
Recall, the international investigation team concluded that the Malaysian Boeing, which crashed in the Donetsk region in 2014, was shot down by a missile from the Russian Buk anti-aircraft complex. The complex, according to investigators, was brought to Ukraine from Russia. It belonged to the 53-th anti-aircraft missile brigade deployed in Kursk.
According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, Boeing was shot down by a missile from the Ukrainian Buk. The Investigation Committee of Russia has repeatedly stated that the passenger liner was attacked by a Ukrainian combat aircraft.
At the same time, the US Department of State agreed with the version of the international commission and urged Russia to "stop lying" and plead guilty to the Boeing crash.
On board the crashed Boeing MH17 flight from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur, there were 298 people, they all died.
