Turkish Prime Minister accuses Russia of imperialism
Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu on Tuesday, December 22, condemned Russian airstrikes on the Syrian city of Idlib and stressed that Syrian territory will not be part of the Kremlin’s “imperialist” aspirations.
The head of the Turkish government said that as a result of these bombings, dozens of people died, Reuters.
“The Syrian lands are not and will not be part of Russian imperialist goals,” Davitoğlu told his fellow ruling party members in the Turkish parliament.
Turkey supports the demands of Western countries to overthrow the regime of dictator Bashar Assad in Syria, on whose side Russia stands.
As the “Forum” wrote, relations between Ankara and Moscow became tense after Turkish Air Force shot down a Russian bomber Su-24 for crossing the air border of Turkey, and Russia imposed in response trade sanctions.
