San Francisco murder suspect turned out to be illegal, followed by ICE

Weapons stolen from a San Francisco police officer last month were used in a murder a few days after they disappeared. In addition, the killer was an undocumented immigrant and wore an ICE wristband for monitoring.

A personal firearm registered to a police officer was stolen from his August 12 private car. Three days later, around 2 in the morning on August 15, 23-year-old Abel Enrique Esquivel Jr. was killed at the intersection of 26 Street and South Van Ness Avenue. He was taken to San Francisco hospital, but the next day he died.

Police have arrested three suspects this week in connection with the murder of Esquivel. Erik García Pineda, 18-year-old San Francisco resident, and Jesus Perez-Araujo, 24-year-old San Francisco resident, were arrested on Monday, September 11, and Daniel Cruz, 18-year-old was arrested the next day.

Pineda was arrested on suspicion of murder, robbery, conspiracy, burglary and attempted murder. The other two are on suspicion of robbery, burglary and possession of stolen property.

NBC journalists learned that Garcia Pineda is an undocumented immigrant and wore an ICE electronic control bracelet at the time of the murder. Immigration officials have not yet commented on this incident.

It is not yet known why, but Garcia Pineda demanded asylum in the United States of America, claiming that he was being pursued by members of the MS-13 gang.

On Thursday, García Pineda and two other defendants pleaded not guilty to the murder, as well as five charges related to robberies and two other exchanges of fire.

According to a statement from the San Francisco Police Union, the officer did not understand that his gun was stolen because there were no signs of his car being hacked.

In his Twitter feed, Trump promises to quickly remove the gang from the streets of the United States.

The gang was founded by immigrants from Central America in Los Angeles in the 1980s. According to the FBI, its strength is up to 10 thousand people in the United States and more than 30 thousand worldwide.
