Trump's first interview after the election: Obamacare may continue

WSJ published part of the first interview that Donald Trump gave after the election.

In particular, he spoke about the details of the meeting with Barack Obama. The current and elected presidents discussed reforms in the coming years. Among other things, Trump said he would not completely abolish the health insurance system adopted under Obama.

Trump said Obama asked him to keep several things in Obamacare. The president-elect also noted that he had already agreed with Obama's proposals: “Either we will keep it with amendments, or we will cancel it, but there will be something else in its place,” Trump said.

Trump also spoke about the measures that he intends to take immediately after taking office. Among the measures he called the weakening of control over financial institutions. This should motivate banks to increase lending. Trump also reaffirmed his commitment to combating illegal migration and drug trafficking.

Trump also said his top priorities include creating more jobs through more international deals. The priority will be to preserve existing jobs. Trump also intends to encourage companies not to take their business abroad in order to give American citizens the opportunity to work.

Trump also responded to a question about the harsh tone he used during his election campaign: “I want this to be a country where people love each other.” When asked if he thought he was harsh, Trump replied: “No, I won.”

Trump did not answer a question about whether Hillary Clinton would receive a position in his Cabinet as Secretary of State. “That's not what's on my mind right now. The main thing I want to focus on is solving the problem of health care, border control, tax reform.”
