Mississippi couple wanted to honeymoon with Islamic State

A married couple planning to spend their honeymoon in Syria and join the ranks of the Islamic State (IG) militants was tried in the US state of Mississippi and charged with complicity with terrorists. This is reported by the American television channel CNN.

Young people (20-year-old Jayline Delchon Young and 22-year-old Muhammad Oda Dahlallu) were arrested at the airport of Columbus. The couple did not deny that they planned to go to Turkey, and then join the Islamists.

According to the channel, the young people also stressed that they are ready to provide material assistance to the militants.

The couple studied at the University of Mississippi. The girl who recently converted to Islam is the daughter of a policeman, the young man is the son of a local imam.

In the summer of 2014, the Islamic State militants established control over some territories of Syria and Iraq and declared the caliphate. Since August, the US 2014 has been inflicting air strikes on IS positions, and an international coalition has been formed to combat it. The activities of the group is prohibited in Russia.
