A video appeared on the Internet showing an explosion of a car bomb near a fortified Egyptian security forces near the city of al-Sheikh Zuweyd, located in the northern part of the Sinai Peninsula.

In the course of an unprecedented scale terrorist attacks on the positions of the Egyptian military, according to various sources, up to 70 soldiers were killed. The attack involved at least 70 militants who, in addition to small arms, used grenade launchers and rocket launchers. They managed to capture 5 fortified points, two of which were completely destroyed. In addition, several armored vehicles, including tanks, fell into the hands of the attackers.

Currently, the Egyptian air force is carrying out massive strikes on concentrations of Islamists, whose losses currently amount to about 20 people. The Islamic State has already claimed responsibility for a series of terrorist attacks.

In connection with the exacerbation of the situation in Sinai, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) forces, concentrated on the border with Egypt, are on high alert.
