Registration of an American visa will now take longer

President Donald Trump signed a decree abolishing the guidelines on the processing of documents at consulates adopted under Barack Obama. This means that the duration of the processing of applications for a visa will be increased.

The brief decree cancels one of the subparagraphs of the decree 2012 of the year, which was aimed at accelerating the process of issuing non-immigrant visas, including student and tourist visas. A decree issued by President Obama called on the State Department to "ensure that 80% interviews for nonimmigrant visas are interviewed within three weeks of the date of filing."

According to the source of Voice of America, Trump is counting on "a thorough and thorough examination of applicants for a visa, and not on a hasty process aimed at meeting arbitrary deadlines."

Recall recently Administration tightened the procedure for checking applicants, including consideration of accounts in social networks and additional biographical information for the last 15 years: thus, now a consular officer may request from the applicant for a visa his profile in Facebook and a list of all countries visited during the specified period.
