NYT: Tillerson will leave the post of state secretary in the next few weeks
In the next few weeks, the White House will dismiss Secretary of State Rex Tillerson.
His place will take the current director of the CIA Mike Pompeo, said the publication The New York Times, with reference to its sources in the administration of the President of the United States.
According to the source, it is not yet clear whether US President Donald Trump made the final decision on Tillerson, but the director of human resources at the White House has already prepared a plan for the transfer of authority, which will most likely be implemented in late December or early January.
If Pompeo heads the Department of State, then the position of head of the CIA will be occupied by Republican Senator from Arkansas Tom Cotton.
The discussion of the possible resignation of Tillerson in the media began in the summer of 2017. The Secretary of State has different views from the President on the solution of many diplomatic problems, in particular, on the options for resolving the conflict over the North Korean nuclear program.
In October, the channel NBC, citing sources in the White House, said that Tillerson, in the presence of witnesses, called Trump a “idiot”.
