New issue of Charlie Hebdo sold out in minutes

The first issue of Charlie Hebdo (Charlie Hebdo), published after the bloody attack of the armed Islamists on the editors of the satirical edition, was sold out in a matter of minutes.

People all over France lined up at newsstands to buy a magazine and thereby express their support for him.

“I have never bought it before — it doesn’t completely reflect my political views — but it’s important for me to buy it today and maintain freedom of speech,” said David Sullo, who stood in line at a kiosk in the center of Paris from about 25 people.

"Number of survivors" was printed 3 million copies, while the usual circulation was only 60 thousands. However, in many places it was quickly sold out.

Seventeen people became victims of three-day violence in Paris, which began with the attack of two armed Islamists on the Charlie Hebdo 7 editorial board in January and ended with the siege of a kosher grocery store two days later.

On the cover of the January issue of Charlie Hebdo from 14, the weeping prophet Mohammed is depicted with a “I am Charly” poster. The caricature is accompanied by the headline “Everything is forgiven.”

All proceeds from the sale of this issue of the magazine will go directly to the editors of Charlie Hebdo, after distributors refused their markups, writes Voice of America.
