New book Harper Lee goes on sale

14 July is the publication of the book Go Set the Watchman by American writer Nell Harper Lee, author of the famous novel Kill a Mockingbird, previously considered her only work.

“To Kill a Mockingbird” was published in 1960, won the Pulitzer Prize in 1961, and was subsequently recognized as a classic of modern American literature. “Go put the watchman” - his storyline continuation, written, nevertheless, earlier. It was this manuscript that served as the basis for the world-famous and beloved novel about childhood, Jean Louise Finch - about good, morality and justice, about the problems of American society in the first half of the twentieth century through the eyes of a young child.

The release of the piece, which 55 has been waiting for years, is surrounded by a festive atmosphere - shops around the world extend their work hours and prepare special events. For example, in New York, actress Mary Bedam, who played the main role in the Oscar-winning film “To Kill a Mockingbird,” will read excerpts from both novels.

There was a place for riddles - it is still not certain for sure how this forgotten manuscript was discovered. According to the official version, the lawyer of the writer found her last fall, attached to the original “To Kill a Mockingbird”. Also recently, in The New York Times, it was suggested that the find was already more than three years old, and it was made by an expert at Sotheby's auction house.

The book is eagerly awaited in all corners of the globe. Publishers point out that delivering copies to stores in different countries in complete secrecy was a separate serious task: "This is a tangled puzzle in which a large team of dedicated people from different parts of the planet participate."
