Nobel Prize in literature awarded Belarusian writer

The Nobel Prize in literature for the year 2015 was awarded to the Belarusian writer Svetlana Alexievich with the wording “for the vociferous sound of her prose and perpetuation of suffering and courage”. This was reported by the permanent secretary of the Swedish Academy Sarah Danius. The announcement of the laureate was broadcast live on the official Online awards. The award ceremony will be held on December 10 in Stockholm.

Svetlana Aleksiyevich is a classic of Russian-language literature, the author of such books as “The War Has a Non-Female Face”, “Zinc Boys”, “Second Hand Time”.

The value of the Nobel Prize in 2015 was eight million Swedish kronor (953 thousands of US dollars).

Svetlana Alexievich became the 14 woman who won the Nobel Prize in literature.

The favorites of betting companies this year were: fashionable Japanese writer Haruki Murakami, Kenyan writer Ngui Wa Thiongo, Norwegian playwright Yun Fosse, American classic Philip Roth, Austrian Peter Handke.

Last year's prestigious award got the classic of French literature Patrick Modiano. Then the rationale of the Nobel Committee was formulated as follows: "For the art of memory, with which he reveals the most elusive in human destiny and shows life in the occupation."

This year, the Nobel Prize has already been awarded on medicine for the treatment of parasites, in chemistry for DNA repair and by physiciste for the conversion of neutrinos.
