'We are ashamed': Russian 'Novaya Gazeta' will be published in Ukrainian

Nobel Peace Prize laureate, editor-in-chief of the Russian Novaya Gazeta Dmitry Muratov recorded an appeal in which he stated that his publication would be published in Ukrainian on February 25. According to him, this is a sign of protest by the editors against the war that Russia started in Ukraine.

“We all gathered at the editorial office this morning. We are in grief. Our country, on the orders of President Putin, started a war with Ukraine. And there is no one to stop the war. That’s why we feel shame along with grief,” Muratov said.

“In his hands, the commander-in-chief, like a key fob for an expensive car, twists the “nuclear button.” The next step is a nuclear salvo? I just can’t interpret Vladimir Putin’s words about weapons of retaliation. But we will publish this issue of Novaya Gazeta (coming out on Friday) in two languages ​​- Ukrainian and Russian. Because we do not recognize Ukraine as an enemy, or the Ukrainian language as an enemy. And we will never admit it,” the journalist added.

After these words, he called for a global anti-war movement: “Only a global anti-war movement can save life on this planet.”
